Oliver C. Ibe received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nigeria in 1975, the S.M. degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1979, the M.B.A. degree from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, in 1980, and the Sc.D. degree in electrical engineering from MIT in 1981. From 1981 to 1983 he held a post-doctoral research position at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, New York. From 1983 to 1987 he was an assistant professor of information and computer science at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia. He spent the summer of 1987 as a visiting scientist at the AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, New Jersey. He was a member of technical staff at Digital Equipment Corporation, Andover, Massachusetts, from 1987 to 1990. From 1990 to 1993 he was with GTE Laboratories, Waltham, Massachusetts, as a senior member of technical staff. He was a visiting research scientist at MIT from 1993 to 1994. He is currently with Cabletron Systems, Rochester, New Hampshire, where he is involved with the architecture of ATM network management systems.

He is a member of INFORMS, ACM and Sigma Xi. He was the managing editor of the journal Computer Networks and ISDN Systems from 1985 to 1987, and is currently on the editorial board of the journal. His research interests include service design for ATM networks, and performance analysis of computer networks

He is currently involved with ATM networks.

BOOKS

  1. Ibe, Oliver Chukwudi; Essentials of ATM Networks and Services, (1997): Oliver Ibe presents the basic information one needs to know to become "ATM literate". Giving an overview of ATM technology, the book explains ATM services, spelling out how to implement ATM in an existing network. This title provides a good understanding of emerging ATM technologies and their underlying architectures
  2. Ibe, Oliver Chukwudi, and Abe, Cliver C.; Remote Access Networks and Services: The Internet Access Companion: Remote access networks provide the infrastructure for access to crucial databases and intranet information to a growing segment of off-site corporate employees: telecommuters, sales and field staff, and branch offices. Network engineers must provide reliable network access for this increasingly mobile workforce.
  3. Converged Network Architectures: Delivering Voice and Data Over IP, ATM, and Frame Relay
  4. Fixed Broadband Wireless Access Networks and Services
  5. Flow control and routing techniques for integrated voice and data networks (LIDS-P)
  6. Flow control and routing in an integrated voice and data communication network
