Current Field of Study and Abstract of Current Research:
Algebra. As a continuation of the school year studies, I am researching into
properties of functions found in complex analysis. I have studied the mapping
properties of functions univalent on the unit disk (in the complex plane) and
seen how the coefficients of their power series expansions are bounded. More
recently, I have begun an in-depth study of sub-harmonic functions and how they
relate to potential theory. The idea here is to lead to solutions of certain
differential equations. These differential equations often arise out of
physical problems in everyday life. I hope to gain an understanding of their
behavior and how to best get solutions to these problems.

Current Field of Study and Abstract of Current Research:
My current research is in the field of teratology, a division of
biostatistics. A teratological experiment is one in which pregnant female
animals, usually rats or mice, are exposed to toxic substances. It is expected
that the fetuses that these females produce will be affected by the toxic
substances. Toxicity endpoints include the number of malformed fetuses, the
number of dead fetuses, and the weight of the fetuses. Several assumptions
need to be made in order to analyze the toxicity endpoints. One is the
distribution of the endpoints. For example, the number of malformed fetuses
within a litter could be assumed to follow some type of correlated binomial
distribution. Another assumption is the dose response pattern. That is, given
a pregnant female's exposure to a dose of a toxic substance, predict the fetal
response. My model also assumes the existence of a threshold dose, that is, a
dose below which no negative effects can occur.

Current Field of Study and Abstract of Current Research:
Mathematics -- Geometric Topology. My research involves looking at geometric
structures on manifolds with a focus on Lorentzian structures. My dissertation
was about manifolds with de Sitter structures and showed that closed de Sitter
manifolds do not exist. Currently I am looking at questions related to flat
Lorentzian conformal structures.

Current Field of Study and Abstract of Current Research:Applications of Mathematics. My primary research interest is in automated deduction. In particular, I am interested in engineering automated deduction systems to be more efficient. For my Ph.D. thesis, I enhanced the Nuprl Proof Development System by implementing its inference mechanism to exploit parallelism. I am also interested investigating the exploitation of distributed evaluation in developing cross-platform programming environments and distributed programs.
